I've talked to many people online and in a bunch of mmorpgs, WoW, lineage, RO
just to name a few, and almost 90% of them have no idea where Singapore is. Some
even asked if it's part of China or something, hahaha.
Just another way for Microsoft to rip us consumers off again, I guess I'll most
likely upgrade after they stop supporting Windows xp, and what I upgrade to
would depend on the prices they're charging for the software.
Considering a retail copy of Win xp Pro costs SGD600 (SGD400 for Win xp Home)
here in Singapore, I shudder at what Windows Vista Ultimate would cost upon
release. Since that looks like the new "Win xp Pro", that'll be most
likely what I'll get, but once again it'll depend on how much it costs.
It's unlikely we'll ever see a Fate/Stay Night movie, though it'll be awesome if
one was ever created.
Why ? Because the anime series follows the game, and unless there's like a
Fate/Stay Night 2 or something. There most likely won't be a continuation of the
series or a movie for that matter, like for Shingetsutan tsukihime (same creator
as Fate/Stay Night) the anime followed the game and no more.
Quote by shoujoboyAnother game of run
into a room and hit X as quickly as possible? I think I'll pass on another .crap
game.
It's actually a .hack mmorpg, not a PS2 game.
Anyway back on topic, there will most likely be a monthly fee and I really doubt
that it'll ever achieve the .hack experience that most of us would like or be
even anything like the anime series.
It's just too difficult to replicate, though there might be some hope for this
game. We'll just have to wait for it to go into beta to decide, and hopefully it
won't be another Star Wars Galaxies, a game that was full of potential but the
developers just screwed it up.

akito, i'm trying to upgrade my CPU little by little. AMD ROX, so i think i'll
continue using their products. But
what motherboard is better, Soyo Dragon or ASUS?
I think you should really wait for AMD to release their new socket AM2 around
the 2nd quarter of this year and then hop onto that platform around the 3rd or
4th quarter. Instead of spending somemore money on your current and relatively
dead-end platform.
But if you really need a new cpu, depending on your motherboard, try getting one
of the axp series of cpus to hold you over till socket AM2.
About your motherboard question, I've never used soyo's before so I can't really
comment on them. I think asus boards are sort of overpriced, but well you get
for what you pay, they're quite good. Personally I think abit boards better,
mostly due to their price (compared to asus, they're cheap) and bios
options.
For AV programs, I believe kaspersky is the best and for free AV's AVG would be
the most recommended. Also I'll stay FAR away from any norton AV's or programs,
they're really big memory hogs, combine that and relatively fair detection
rates. There are just many other better AV programs out there.

This is not overclocking: If a processor maximum speed is 2.8GHz and
the factory set it to
2.5GHz then you still have 300MHz of unused power. You enter the BIOS
and adjust the to gain that 300MHz back, so that the processor is
running at the speed it is suppose to.
Isnt that overclocking?
Oh well nothing to get into an argument over.
Sorry to have gotten you riled up.
I think what he's trying to say is that the proc's stock speed is 2.8GHz,
however it came underclocked at 2.5GHz. So setting it back to 2.8GHz is not
overclocking but setting it back to stock speeds. Of course the chances of this
happening is next to nil, but this is just an example of what he's trying to
say, so relax .
Anyway back on thread, it's hard to believe that a recent intergrated graphic
board cannot handle Gunbound, could the threadstarter maybe post the model of
his graphics board ? Even my friends' Intel "Extreme Graphics" 2 can
handle CS and homeworld 2, and my Intel GMA900 can play HL2 just fine.
To use it, u have to download the knoppix iso and burn it to a cd. Do not, i
repeat do not unzip the iso before burning it. Using Nero, cancel everything
then go to recorder -> burn image -> select the downloaded iso and burn
it. Then make sure your computer is made to boot from cd, leave the cd in your
drive and restart.
Today the price advantage that AMD had in the K7 era is gone. They are priced
around the same as their Intel counterparts.
Also for thermal issues, Intel has more problems with Prescott than AMD's
venice. So the "AMD is hotter than Intel" thinking does not apply
anymore.
Really comes down to what u're gonna do with the computer, Intels' are more
all-rounders, while AMD is better for gaming. But now with dual-cores I think
thats gonna change to both Intel and AMD being gd all-rounders.
Also for those wondering, I voted AMD cos they're currently in a better
situation than Intel, cos of Intels' thermal issues with prescott. And I own 3
Intels' and 2 AMDs'.
Starcraft ,A Blizzard made CG anime/cartoon would be real cool, just look at
their cinematics.
Also I think fatal frame would be gd too, that's if they can keep it scary.

than claiming it is the fault of microsoft, why dont u say it is the fault of
those hackers?
This statment is comparable to leaving your house door unlocked and then later u
get burgled and then blame the burglar for walking into your house and stealing
stuff. When in the 1st place u could have prevented it by just locking your
door.

so not true, it is more secure in a sense because there are so many different
versions of Linus out there, and they are not even compatible with each
other
Open source is to a certain extent more secure because more people can work on a
fix rather than a fixed amount of programmers, also fixes are not released
immediately for Windows when flaws are found unless they're really big flaws
that create problems on a massive scale (e.g blaster worm), most of the time
patches are only realeased once a month. Mainly on the 2nd tuesday of every
month.
If u support the anime/manga, I suggest buying it as if u download it, most
likely it was free and the artist does not earn any money from it and may sooner
or later decide to stop producing new anime/manga/art.
Quote by EnchanterVery true. Intel's
current Pres-hott is a joke, ridiculously hot and
turns in similar performance to the older Northwood core. I have owned
a system based on a P4 3.0E (Prescott) and another based on a A64 3000+
(Winchester). The latter is much snappier and much easier to
cool/silence (the Prescott ran @60c+ and Winchester @30c+, both at
idle). Add in the 64-bit capability and lower current demand on the
PSU, the A64 looks like a definite winner.
At the same clocks (e.g 3.0GHz northwood and 3.0GHz Prescott) the northwood
would totally win the prescott because it has a shorter pipeline 20 stages
compared to Prescott's 31 stages. However If u start overclocking the Prescott
It'll start to shine at around 4+GHz, where the higher clock speed will make up
for the extended pipeline.
Also was your comparision between the A64 and Prescott accurate ? Were the
ambient temps the same ? Did they use the same heatsink ? Are the temps provided
by the motherboard (which most likely be inaccurate) ? I'll agree that the
Prescott definately runs hotter than the A64 but a 30 deg difference ? That I do
not believe.
Quote by Archer79And why is it that
Intel didn't release most of the
dualcores without Hyperthreading enabled?! Very interesting
eh?....
Cos on a dual core, hyper-threading would be useless or at least not as
effective as on a single core, afterall hyper-threading is to simulate dual
cores.
We're talking about Microsoft right ? Not Windows.
Guess I hate Microsoft cos they continue to rip us off despite them making tons
on money every year. Here in Singapore a retail copy of WinXP Pro costs $600,
for some families that amount may be enough to feed the whole family for a month
and pay the bills. BTW WinXP Home costs $400 which ain't any better, it's still
a rip off, and they're complaining about people buying pirated goods. If Windows
was cheaper, I'll bet many more people would be buying an original copy
instead.
If u're talking about Windows, I hate it cos,
1. It's a resource hog (look at the amount a RAM it uses).
2. It's full of loop holes.
3. It's spyware.
4. It's getting more and more bloated.
But I'm forced to use Windows due to lack of support for games on linux, and
that the fact tat most of the app's my sch uses only run in windows.
Though I've got to say they've really gotten their act together and the overall
stability of Windoze has improved alot since the Win98 days. But they still have
a long way to go.
I've talked to many people online and in a bunch of mmorpgs, WoW, lineage, RO just to name a few, and almost 90% of them have no idea where Singapore is. Some even asked if it's part of China or something, hahaha.

I like Samsung monitors haven't had 1 fail on me yet. Also viewsonic is one of the better brands for monitors out there.
Personally if I was gonna buy a new monitor today, I'll buy either a black samsung or viewsonic CRT monitor that can at lest do 1600x1200 resolution.
